I am a freelance writer and communication professional in Raleigh, N.C. with more than 20 years of experience in journalism, public affairs, trade associations, and nonprofits management.

 

From writing, editing and photography, to providing SEO-optimized content, I can help you from start to finish - develop your content strategy, creating editorial calendars, writing and taking care of the art.

Born and raised in North Carolina, I started my career as a reporter and photographer at a small weekly newspaper in the eastern part of the state. For the past 15 years, I have operated Open Water Communications, a small firm devoted to helping organizations connect with and engage their audiences through storytelling and photography. 

 

My work appears in print and online in local newspapers, lifestyle and business magazines, niche publications and professional association products.

Two years ago, I collaborated on a new children's book series with a friend who is an artist, and we published The Adventures of Puddin and the Fruit Bat: The Perils of Puddin. Thanks to support from the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County and the North Carolina Arts Council, we published two books.
